as part of the pedagogical innovation week at the faculty of architecture la cambre horta ulb, the workshop (fig.) questioned three foundations of the architectural project; its representation, its elements and its materials through the design of a pavilion.
despite the oneweek workshop being held online it wanted to explore physical model making and its virtual communication.
part 1| random asignment of one unusual model making material, one representation type and one architectural element per student.
part 2| the free exploration of material propreties.
part 3| design a pavillion which plays with the limits of each asigned caracteristic.
the iterative design process of the pavilions was complemented by three talks given by jonathan muecke, trees studio and rafał zajko. the students’s final production reflects the panel of random combinations linked to each representation, element and material.
